Different Questions on Why Does My Stomach Hurt

Why does my stomach hurt when i eat, why does my stomach hurt on my period, why does my stomach hurt at night, why does my stomach hurt when i wake up these might be among of the questions you ask yourself.

These questions are sometimes difficult to answer accurately, even for medical professionals. In about a third of patients, the cause of their ailments can’t be determined at all.

This is because there are so many possible causes. The pain may even be psychogenic, meaning that it is caused by stress or the psychological state of the patient.

In the abdominal cavity there are many internal organs and tissues. Pain may be in the intestines, stomach, liver, kidneys, gallbladder and bladder, uterus in women, as well as blood vessels and muscles that cover the abdomen.

And sometimes the problem is not in them at all, but, for example, in the heart – then we talk about irradiating (reflected) pain.

Why Does My Stomach Hurt When I Eat

It is difficult to understand when you ask yourself why does my stomach hurt when you eat but below are very useful information on the pain of stomach after eating.

If your stomach aches persist, ask for a gastroscopy where they look inside your esophagus, stomach and first part of your small bowels, the duodenum, to rule out ulcers (unlikely since nexium didn’t help), cancer, inflammation.

The abdominal echography being OK is important, but not suitable to examine your stomach, that’s what the gastroscopy is for. Normal blood test results are nice to know, usually these aren’t informative

SELF CARE

Changing the way you eat may help your symptoms. Steps you can take include:

  • Allow enough time for meals.
  • Avoid arguments during meals.
  • Avoid excitement or exercise right after a meal.
  • Chew food carefully and completely.
  • Relax and get rest if indigestion is caused by stress.

Avoid aspirin and other NSAIDs. If you must take them, do so on a full stomach.

Antacids may relieve indigestion.

Medicines you can buy without a prescription, such as ranitidine (Zantac) and omeprazole (Prilosec OTC) can relieve symptoms. Your health care provider may also prescribe these medicines in higher doses or for longer periods of time.

Why Does My Stomach Hurt On My Period

Before reaching 45 years years women do pass through having  menstrual period each month. Cramps happen during menstruation. They suck. The uterus basically starts contracting so that the lining comes off and is expelled.

These cramps can cause bowel issues such as constipation or diarrhea, which can cause cramping in the lower abdominal region. Basically if the uterus isn’t happy, ain’t nobody happy. Good thing it only lasts around 4-5 days (for me anyway).

But not everyone’s periods are the same. Some are worse, some are more mild, some are longer and some are shorter. Periods affect everyone differently.

SELF CARE

Mostly live a low stress life, but even times of high stress (family deaths, Depression, Anxiety, self harm) sure changes will be there.

I’ve also changed from active 12hr days working in a warehouse, then coming home to 3hrs working with family activities. To a low intensity, work from home, yoga life. And changes will be there.

I can’t even say genetics play a major part as some of family suffers from more than occasional twinges. So back to my initial thoughts. Bad luck!

Why Does My Stomach Hurt At Night.?

Usually, stomach pains are harmless conditions caused by overeating, gas, or indigestion. Frequent or recurring sharp stomach pain is often due to stress and worry, even in child care. But it can point to more serious medical problems like pancreatic diseases.

Check with the doctor on this. It could be a G.I. Issue or a matter of too much acid. Only a doctor could tell you for sure.

SELF CARE

Try using 3 pillows. Two piled on top of each other at the head of the bed and one below that to make a ramp. Alternatively raise the head of the bed by putting blocks under the legs.

Why Does My Stomach Hurt When I Wake Up?

The most common cause of stomach pain on an empty stomach in the morning is a duodenal ulcer, while stomach pain after a meal is a symptom of a stomach ulcer.

The duodenum is the first part of the small intestine, which is about 25 to 30 cm long. The small intestine is about 500 to 600 cm long.

About 95% of duodenal ulcers occur in the duodenal bulb. The duodenal bulb is about 5 cm long and is the portion of the duodenum closest to the stomach.

People with duodenal ulcer usually have symptoms of abdominal pain in the morning on an empty stomach, and the symptoms can be relieved after eating something.

The following are the food and drinks to avoid consuming a lot so keep your stomach healthy

 Alcohol

Regular excessive intake of alcoholic beverages can have many negative health effects, including chronic acid reflux, liver damage, heart disease, insulin resistance, esophageal cancer, poor nutritional intake, and gastric ulcers from increased acid production.

More immediate symptoms can include heartburn, diarrhea, headache, constipation, and vomiting. Prolonged and heavy use of alcohol can wreak havoc all over your body by increasing the production of cytokines and other pro-inflammatory markers.

It can disturb the intestinal absorption of nutrients, including many vitamins as well as sodium, potassium, and water.

Excessive alcohol intake can lead to bleeding and injury to the walls of the intestines and an overgrowth of “bad” bacteria. The damage done to the inside walls of the digestive tract allows bacterial toxins to enter the blood, increasing the liver’s exposure to toxins and thus increasing the risk of liver disease.

Coffee

Coffee is very much a part of many people’s everyday routine. However, that coffee contains oils, acids, and caffeine that can irritate the lining of your stomach and small intestine.

Consuming coffee causes an overproduction of hydrochloric acid (HCL) in your stomach, which can cause irritation, especially in someone who already suffers from a GI disorder. Coffee can exacerbate acid reflux and heartburn

Fast food

Fast food can be detrimental to anyone’s diet, but when it comes to gut health, these foods are toxic. They can make the digestive system sluggish, causing constipation and aggravating other GI disorders; or, they can move too quickly through the GI system, causing diarrhea.

Additionally, they can cause indigestion, heartburn, bloating, and a feeling of over-fullness

Soft drinks

Soft drinks also called soda depending on where you live, whether diet or full of sugar, seem to be the drink of choice for many people these days. Soft drinks are what we dietitians call “empty calories,” meaning, these beverages provide calories but have absolutely no nutritional value.

In addition to the adverse health effects that drinking too many soft drinks can lead to, going overboard can also be an easy way to put on the pounds, which can lead to an unhealthy gut. These types of beverages contain many other substances, none of them beneficial to your health.

Most contain phosphoric acid, which has been shown to deplete calcium stores from our bones, leading to osteoporosis, weakened bones, and decreased bone mass.

The average 12-ounce can of cola contains a whopping 9 teaspoons of refined sugar in the form of high-fructose corn syrup, which depletes healthy gut flora and nourishes the bad bacteria. The carbonation in soft drinks may cause belching, gas, and indigestion.

And let’s not forget the caffeine, especially in colas and energy drinks, which can cause intestinal upset due to its laxative effect on the GI tract. Caffeine can trigger the release of gastric juices and cause food to be transferred into the small intestines before they are fully digested.

Sugary cereal

These sugar-coated cereals are a sweet treat, but they are filled with sugar and refined grains, both of which are gutbusters. Many also lack the fiber that is so important for a healthy gut

Smoking habit

Smoking habit might a causative of why does my stomach hurt when i eat, why does my stomach hurt on my period, why does my stomach hurt at night, why does my stomach hurt when i wake up and to the conclusion of oneself asking Why Does My Stomach Hurt

Try to include the following in your meal to avoid questioning yourself why does my stomach hurt  so you can increase and strengthen your stomach health.

Vegetables and fruits, Greek yogurt, Oatmeal, Ground flaxseed, Cranberries, Bananas, Black beans

This is why it is so important not to engage in self-diagnosis, but to go to the doctor when you have alarming symptoms. A specialist will assess your well-being, take into account your lifestyle, eating habits, and events that preceded the onset of pain.

Take care of your stomach and everything concerning with your body will be fine
